This may be common knowledge, if it is just ignore.

www.realtor.com is a great site for housing. It's plugged into the MLS realtor database so almost every home listed with a realtor should be on there.

You won't find that IN Naperville, but you could probably find it pretty close, like 10 minutes away. I live maybe 15 minutes from there. I know there's areas around me that would probably fit the bill. I'm thinking Plainfield might work, but being only 18 I really don't pay much attention to the house market.

Hacker I do know about it and as soon as I pick an area I can look more closely. I realize I wont find that in Naperville but that general area so at least I can be kind of close to the only people I know.

Hey there. I live in a northern suburb called mundelein. I bought my house a little more than a year ago and paid about 200K. It's a three bedroom, 1 1/2 bath. Nice nice finsished basement. kinda small kitchen. It's a nice neighborhood and probably about 45 minutes away from bloomingdale. There are new houses being built very close to here, a lot of them go for big bucks though...not sure what your price range is. If you need any more help let me know.....talk to ya, chad

Anyone familiar with Bolingbrook? I found what appears to be a pretty good place there but I am not familiar at all.

Yeah, bolingbrook is near me. AFAIK it's a pretty nice town, just a normal suburb. Right next to Naperville too, I think.

I'd have to second that. It's not too far from the train either, IIRC.

I can't help you with housing in Chicago, but I can get you started on a summer home in Door County Wisconsin:

Sorry for the shameless plug.

Matt, my big sister moved to Des Plains 12 years ago. She was spouting the same propaganda that Michelle was about the 4 seasons.

"The color changes in the Fall are SOOO lovely, " she'd say. Well, about 2 years ago, she started voicing her discontent for the cold. This year it was FIVE degrees on two seperate occasions. FIVE degrees. She called me driving home from work on a FIVE degree night, and I just laughed.

"But the color changes are SOOO lovely," I reminded her. I then told her that I went fishing the day before, and that while it was cold in the morning, I had peeled my shirt off by 2 pm.

That being said, she loves the schools (y'all have kids?), loves the housing, and loves where she lives now in Killdeer (next door to Cheeseland). My brother in law commutes daily into the city with no prob. If I remember correctly, Des Plains was real near the train station, too. Road America is the GREATEST racetrack in the Western hemisphere, which is always a plus. I'd say good luck, congratulations, Godspeed, thanks for the Greaseslinger shirts (Baker gave me one), and buy a 4x4.

I'm pretty sure it was negative a few times this year. Record lows are somewhere around -50. Really, it isn't that bad. You get over it, and then weather that you sissies down south would consider freezing and put coats on for, we think is absolutely beautiful!
