Question Alignment..........what are you paying?

Dealer quote $150
Firestone quote $180+
Service shop in town $99

Pretty big disparity and I'd have to lean to the Pcar dealer. The reason other shops were on my list was convienience to my house. The dealer is across the lake (36miles).

Is there something magical about aligning a 944/turbo/968?

What did you pay?

At those prices, I would personally go with the dealership.

There's not anything magical, but you are certainly better off going to a specialty shop. The only special tool is for the rear toe. If you are having a street alignment done - maybe trust the dealer. But, if you are trying to tune for track find someone who really knows their stuff on the 944. It pays to pay. I shell out ~$150 for my race alignment with corner balance at a shop that REALLY knows the 944.

LSU - PM me please. I will set you up with the local Firestone store and if need be I can have the DM give you a call to set the appointment.

I paid $200 at an independent Porsche shop that came highly recommended. A second shop had about the same price.

I'm not sure Firestone is the best place to get your car aligned.

Please note:

Car isn't tracked. I really just need a street alignment.

I paid $240, but that was at a track-oriented shop, that's well known and not cheap. I'd replaced a lot of the suspension bits, and I wanted it set up right.

Oh I just remembered - I have the M030. The first shop I took it to took one look and told me they didn't want to do it.

You can have great equipment and still have an incompetent mechanic using it.

Just as you could at the P-car DEALER. Like the moron who did my belts and got the balance shaft wrong and overtightened the timing. It sounded like a jet engine. They left bolts out of the cover, etc, etc. It does not matter where you take it there are dumbasses everywhere.

BTW
1) where are you in Austin?
2) arent yout the dude who just wrecked his 944 trying to drift?
