New Steering Shaft For Manual Racks
I received a new steering shaft for a manual rack I hope to put in a car of mine, and thought I'd share a few pics of it, since they are generally hard to come by. This was made for me by 'The Machine Shop' in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The cost was $220.00, which I think is fair since it's made with OE VW joints on a new shaft, not spliced together from a power steering shaft, or made in China. I did note that the shaft has been welded in addition to the spline coupling at the u-joint itself.

I have the full manual steering conversion kit from the Machine Shop, and it is probably my favorite mod I've done so far. Top quality, soup to nuts, and reasonably priced for what you get (which is everything you need to do the conversion)

I'd be interested to see where the joints can be purchased. I have access to places I can make a splined shaft, but doing it for less than $220 would be a challenge. Glad someone is out there reproducing old 944 parts.
