Default 1988 Turbo S color choices

According to some Porsche sources, the 1988 944 Turbo S was only available in Silver Rose. Many say that it was actually offered in many other colors after the initial 7-800 cars were produced in Silver Rose. What's the real story with color choices in 1988?
Thanks!

Source: former silberrosa 944 Turbo S owner, Gary S. A funny anecdote is that IIRC Gary was the lucky buyer of the last known supply on the planet of the funky plaid interior upholstery material to redo the front seats, which I believe he sold together with his car.

Yeah--I found this online earlier today. This is definitely accurate?

So Silver Rose was a special edition for the launch of the 944 Turbo S but the limited edition didn't last the entire year?

I don't know about US cars, but overall there are more silver rose cars than all other colors combined. I always get a laugh when someone cals a silver rose car "rare!" Almost as funny as when they call it a "952!"

The Silberossa with the original interior seems to be very rare -- I've seen quite a few owners who have ripped them out for something more common, or for racing, or for just being worn out.

Mmmmm.... and that funky plaid interior. I so love plaid!

Im dying to see the color breakdown for 1991. Theres 3 colors in particular that are quite rare for that year. Cobalt, Zyclam Pearl Effect, and i believe a shade of green... Ive heard its only handfulls that came to the states. I wonder what the full production was.

Well, FWIW, in 1991 Porsche built 3118 944S2 coupés but they "only" built 528 Turbo cabrios. Color is totally undocumented on these bad boys, too.

My '88 Turbo S started out as a black on black car.
A friend of mine has owned both a silber rose / plaid turbo SS and a red on black turbo S.
In Europe I usually see as many ordinary colored turbo S' as the silber rose model.
