Default Speaker options for 10 speaker door option

Hey team,

Anyone know of a source for good quality aftermarket front speakers in the 10 speaker door option? Specifically the smaller sized speaker under the arm rest.

TIA

Its hard to find replacements. I tried replacing once. I decided not to after a failed attempt. The speakers have to be VERY shallow. They magnet cannot stick out very far at all. Some alpine speakers i had were almost 1" too deep. Let me know if you find anything that works well.

$38 at the dealer. After searching and coming up empty handed, I went ahead and bought original.

I can't remember who wrote this up so I can give credit, but I clipped and saved it for future use. HTH

i actually just did a new speaker setup in my s2 cab and i can tell you what i used. i have the premium option but for the cab it's only 8 speakers instead of 10 (4x6 in the back).

in the door there is a 5 1/4", a 3 or 3.5"(i just chucked that one so i'm not sure of the size), and a crossover that splits the highs for the tweeter in the top of the door. for my install i replaced the tweeter and 5.25 with infinity kappa component speakers. for the back i put in kappa 4x6 (but that will be different for you i think). i've heard that the cab has more clearance in the front in terms of depth of speaker allowed so i can't guarantee that kappas will fit in there but they sound good in my car. i bought a 6 channel amp that sits in the trunk to drive the in car speakers and a sub in the trunk (i don't have the sub yet but was thinking of getting that custom 8" enclosure that one of our members makes.
if you find that the kappas do have clearance then they're totally worthwhile and it'd try them. if you need a good price i know a guy who for some reason gets them really cheap. this guy guarantees to beat any price. i got my 5.25" components for $150 which is pretty cheap. if you can't find a cheaper price i'd be happy to pick up a pair and ship them to you.

If you can live without the full 10 speaker setup (and I think you can!) I HIGHLY recommend the MB Quart setup (I'll get you part numbers when I get home) with crossovers...it is SUCH a nice sound for the doors, and the crossovers are pretty easy to adapt to work on the factory plate (I'll see if I have any of the templates for the mounting bracket I made, but it fit perfectly)...overall I couldn't be happier. They fit fine in my doors, and eliminating the 3.5" isn't really a loss with the quality of these 5.25 and tweets. The only issue I had is that the tweets don't fit under the factory tweet covers...I still haven't found a suitable way to adapt them, and my doors look like dookie, but if someone gets a better setup, I'd love to hear it.

I have an 86, so not original style 10 speaker setup. In the door panel I have a 4 X 6 Kenwood and a flush mount Pioneer tweeter above the window switches. I have the 10 speaker option door pockets and speaker/speaker panel. So you just put a 5.25 in and did not worry about the 3.5 in the panel? You can 3.5 size easy enough. I thought they were only 3.0? I have not measured yet to be honest. Sony do a 3.5!? Maybe the 5.25 and tweeters in the panel would work? A bit low for tweeters I know. But hey, its there.

NZ, that's even easier! You can cut a little hole in the door panel (right above the window switches) and it will fit even better...the quart tweets have a nice base, matches factory trim nicely, and have a grill that it very solid. I wouldn't even bother with anything other than the 5.25's in the lower pockets, eliminating the 3's or 3.5's or whatever they were was no biggie for me, the sound quality of the quarts for the money is phenomenal. I am running a JVC head unit, with no amp other than an old punch 45 to a single 10" MB sub in the back (I'll be getting the 8" boxes from KLH soon) and it is so loud and clear that I have yet to get distortion (nor have I hit max volume on the head unit)...the fill is great (though a sub is still fairly necessary) and the sound quality is spectacular.

Ummm yeah, I already have Pioneer tweeters above the window switches. I am using a JVC mp3 head unit. So Quarts 5.25 in the pocket panel you think? I will get some rockford 3.5's if they will fit. 1.5" mounting depth...
