Default A/C switch question

I am on my third A/C / heat control panel. The A/C switch just died. Does anyone know which prongs on the back of the control panel control the A/C so I can splice in and make my own switch?

TIA

No, You must buy a new heat/ac panel. I have herd people talking about soldering and stuff, however I would rather just make my own switch.

The early cars had seperate switches though.

I have an ugly toggle switch hanging out my dash board installed by PO. I have been wanting to replace with a factory switch but now I know I have to buy the whole panel. Thanks Porsche. I wonder if the switch is the cause of so many AC systems not working on these cars?

As to how to do it, sorry I have no idea. It is a double through double switch configuration with four wires soldered on going into the hole where the switch used to be. The on off light in the old switch still works when I turn it on. I will take pics if you want.

You could just leave the original button on for looks and get a dpdt switch like jonny or a push on push off and hide it somewhere underneath the dashboard.

That is what I planned on doing. Maybe I'll splice right in at the A/C clutch.

You can buy just a replacement switch for the A/C. I have replaced it on mine and it takes about an hour and is easy to do. There is currently one for sale on Ebay right now.

Part Number is 944.563.922.00

even if it were easy to replace, $40 for that is way too much.

Lol, better than $400 for a new unit!
Perhaps if somebody buys just the switch, they could meter out the back of the switch and give us the results. My switch will not stay in, so I may just install my own switch.

I am attaching some pictures of the AC unit taken apart and the part of the switch that fails.

This is the AC unit without the switch.

This is the back of the AC unit. The blue circled area is the location of the solder joints for the switch.

This is the AC switch taken apart will all of its pieces. The little white thing that the blue arrow points to is not suppose to be a seperate piece. This is the failure point of the switch.

This is the switch partially disassembled showing the failure point. The white thing is suppose to be on a rod where the other blue arrow is pointing. Unfortunately that little piece breaks making the whole unit useless.

Indeed...

OTOH, Andrew's pictures make me think that it actually is an easy task.
