Spark Plugs
I'm sure this has been gone over before but I have to ask.
What do you guys think are quality spark plugs?
I was using Bosch Platinum +4, then today I read somewhere that it could actually hurt performance on the car. Since they needed to be changed anyway, I went with the Bosch Platinum, just has the 1 prong. I felt a noticeable decrease in throttle response, enough to make me want to put the old plugs back in. I'm either going to return these and get the Platinum +4's again, put the old ones back in or maybe buy another brand. I'm not happy with the change.

I just put NGK-R's in my 951 on the recommendation of TonyG. My old Bosch plugs only had 2k miles on them. As others have found, the car seemed to run smoother and pull ever-so-slightly harder. A friend and fellow rennlister also noticed the same thing with his 951S.

I woud stay away from the Platinum plugs... a thread on a Dodge mailing list came up with similar problems with the platinum plugs... I switched to the stock NGK plug on my Dodge Omni race too... no problems at all. Performance is sensitive to the temperature range of the plug. You wont get any performance gain, just make it worse with the wrong plug.

yea, maybe they messed something up at the place I went, 'cause the ones I had in there before seem alot better. I went to NGK.com and I'm guessing you guys mean the plugs for $12 a peice? That just seems way to expensive for plugs, unless you know somewhere else that's cheaper?

Come to think of it, i cant remember the last time the plugs on my car were changed.
Which would be a better choice, the NGK BPR6ES or the Bosch Super plugs? Ill probably end up getting the Bosch Super's i dont think any of the autostores by me carry NGK.
For the Bosch Super, SUPER PLUG M44.07,8; Gap=.028 . are the 7 and 8 the heat ranges of the plug? Is there a difference between the ones i would need? Im sorta new to the spark plug buiness.
Does it come pregapped, im not too familar with how to achieve the .028 gap needed for my 924S.

A spark plug gap will do it
Same with me they don't sell NGK's around here, so I used Bosch Platinum. Get the 4 prong ones. If you have a generic 1 prong plug now, you'll notice a difference

The 4 prong plugs are a waste of money. The spark will only use one prong, so then you have three wasted prongs to block the spark. Thats also three more prongs to break off. I personally use Beru Silverstones but I'm sure Bosch Supers or NGK-Rs will feel the same.

Also helps if you index the plugs when you install them. This can take a little work. Indexing is to install the plugs so that the opening of the Spark Plugs faces the intake and exhaust valves. It does make a difference. I read an article on Excellence Mag by Jim Pasha who is the Tecnical Editor for Excellence. He claims he has seen at least a 10 hp gain by indexing Spark Plugs. I installed it on my 88 tS using the NGKR's and yes I felt the difference.
