Default Cracked block

Has anyone seen this before? My block has a hairline cracked near the mount points for the clutch housing and the engine. It stops just short of the second mount point. Thoughts?

I am new to them myself. Not sure where you are located, but I am getting close to pulling a complete engine from my 1987 NA parts car. I have the ability to crate it up and get it shipped, so drop me a PM if you are interested.

Dude, that is so cool and thank you. I have another body that is giving me a short block from an '84. I am just trying to figure out what I should do to max out the performance since I am going all in on this motor. Do I bore it out to 2.7 and drop in performance pistons? Just wondering since the opportunity has presented itself with this cracked block.

I had a parts car that was in a collision that had that mounting area completely broken... Maybe your car has collision history?

I see no signs of a collision. I believe the damage occurred when the engine was out of the car.

I wouldn't throw that block away. It could probably be repaired.

That works.

There's currently a thread over on the 928 board about welding blocks.

Not 100% sure the 944 is the same alusil as the 928 but I think it is.

But you're already there.
