Default Question about being banned

When one is banned, is there anything that stops them from signing up under another name?

I think the basic band does that , but John can ban IP's and whole IP ranges.

You can use a program to mask your IP, a good one is called 'Internet Anonym'. It's real cool cos you can watch a map that shows your connection to different ip servers around the world.

Nobody will ever know your IP, not that anyone would want to hide anything.

Site admins can block whole IP ranges, even entire ISPs if they know all the subnets.

Internet Anonym and similar programs will always rely on a third party server, a "proxy server" to function, there is simply no way to avoid that third server due to the way TCP/IP functions.

If John so desired, he can simply find out the ip address(es) that are used by Internet Anoym and block those, thus blocking anyone attempting to use that trick.

Of course since 99% of us have DHCP client connections, banning a specific IP or block doesn't help much. Now if he could ban the MAC, that'd do it.

IIRC, if you're banned and sign up under a different id, I believe you agree to pay John D $5000. Not kidding.

Edit: Ah yes, here 'tis:

If you have been banned by Rennlist and attempt to register again using some means to get around the ban, such as using another email address, you agree to a $5,000 dollar reinstatement fee. You also agree that any disputes will be resolved in New Hampshire courts.

It would be useless, services like those dont have enough bandwidth to support tons of people surfing, much less downloading movies and music.

Ill take my chances to download 2 full movies in 5 hours total instead of... 500 or so

Steganos Internet Anonyn received terrible reviews.
Theoretically if you were banned from any website and wanted to register again; you would need to get a completely different Internet provider and register under a different username.
