little help please
damnit, I can't figure it out. I bled the front brakes and the pedal still feels spongy, I'm going to re-bleed all 4 tommorrow and see if that helps.
I still have this squealing though, every so often (very often actually) this squealing comes along. I can't seem to track down the problem either. When it does come along if I push on the airbox...sometimes it will stop and run normally. This is a really loud squeal and increases as engine speed increases, the belts were changed roughly 5k miles ago. I'd like to fix/repair this problem as soon as possible. Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks
Bryan

I have a feeling its something with the alternator and/or the alternator belt. Have you checked the tension of the belt? The belt should have about 5mm of defection when you press on it between the rollers. If i remember correctly thats about a tension of 85lbs. Is that belt new? If its old, it may be too glazed, even with the proper tension it may slip. Tightening an old belt more to make it stop squeeling could damage the rollers on the alternator.
The other thing it could be is the alternator itself, the bearing may be bad on it. Try taking off the alternator belt and spinning the roller by hand. If you hear any noise when you spin it by hand, that means your going to need a new one.

My car used to squeal for the first minute after I turned it on. Then I replaced the AC belt and now it runs great! (But I also replaced the timing belt, Balance shaft belt, fixed a vaccuum leak right out of the intake manifold, rotated teh tired and changed the brake pads at the same time...so not 100% sure which did it...)

Gotta be the muffler bearing.
Actually if the pedal doesnt get better after you are sure ALL four corners of the car are bled then you will probably need a new master cylinder. Sometimes when bleeding the piston in the master cylinder goes further than the normal travel and the seals get destroyed in the dirt and gunk buildup that they never had come into contact with before.

I think it has something to do with his socks... they must be improperly tensioned. Oh wait, wrong board.
Hey, rotate the tires, why bother. they rotate when i drive.
