Ya think? Really? I thought the going price for a used dash was closer to $500?
I can see the light bulb going off in peoples heads ("wait a second, he doesn't know what the parts are worth....this is great!!")

Man, that's a great insurance company -- almost makes it worthwhile to get into accidents!
I dunno about $1000 CDN for the dash -- there's one on evilBay right now going for $150 US, and no takers yet. Still, for $1500 you should buy it back if you have space to keep it while you fix it up or part it out. Either way, it's going to be sitting on your driveway for a long while...
Andrew, by "gong relay" is this relay #12 ("Warning Buzzer", part # 928.618.102.02) -- 86 951 might be slightly different from my 87na. If it's the right one I have a spare sitting right on my desk that you can have -- just send me PM with your address.

You got a Great Deal! (aside from that whole going through a crash thing.) buy the car back and just use the drivers side to get in. act like nothing is wrong when you drive it around. then buy a 944 turbo for the nice days!

You hit the nail on the head there.
If you try and fix it I'm sure it will 5k-6k by the time your done.
If you have a place to keep it with out time restrictions, the most profitable way to a better replacement is to part it out. Sort of like sweat-equity.

How long does everyone think it will take to move the "small" parts, like seats, dash, carpet, etc, etc????
I could strip the car as much as possible and store the stuff in my basement until it sells, was just curious how long it took others who have done this.

Actually, I received my shop manuals in the mail last week (good timing eh?). I think it was So-Cal who sent them a looooong time ago. They apparently got sent to my old address and were there all this time.
If it was So-Cal (I'm pretty sure it was Hugh), then he gets the first free part - not the engine though - I know how he despises the S motor (he he).

I have NO clue! I need a list of what used parts should sell at.
I will undercut that price though - I'm not out to make a big profit, I'd just rather see my 944S parts in the 944's of others here, as opposed to it being parted out in some yard.
Whatever the going price is on a certain used part, I will sell my part for less than that. For example, if you can get a used dash for $700, I will sell mine for $500.
I want two things - a new 951 and my car's soul to live on.

Thats a good deal.
When I totalled mine 4 or 5 years ago they only gave me $12K and wanted something like $7K to buy it from them. My mecahnic told them the engine had just been done, so I figure they had another buyer waiting.
On the other hand, if I'd bought it I wouldn't have a 951 now.
