Default Looking for paint /body shop in Phoenix

My teenage son’s 944 needs a new paint job but he’s on a limited budget. Is there anyone in the Phoenix, AZ area that lets the users do their own prep work to keep the cost down? He was quoted $3800 from a local shop that does great work, but that is with them doing 100% of the work, and is about the value of the whole car. We would like to do most of the prep ourselves.
I’ve considered building a paint booth in our garage but this would go down a long and uncertain road. .
Thanks for your input!

strip all the glass, lights and rubber yourself - easy work and will save you hundreds.

take it to your local MAACO or similar and get a quote for their highest-quality paint job, it'll be about 1500$.
