Talking Found another NA!!! Have a question about it too!

I have a question in regard to another NA car to replace the loss of my long and loved 84 NA. There is an 85.5 NA in the trader for sale here for a really great price. It has 43,000 original miles and belongs to a car collector and enthusiast of cars. It is meticulously maintained at the local Porsche dealer here in San Diego, CA. I had spoken to the 'original owner' (which they still are) and had learned that the only real problem on the car has been a clutch that is sticking.

I've never had the clutch stick on my old 944, but my uncles 78 924 had a sticking clutch whenever the brake fluid got dirty or low. Could the sticking clutch on this car be a fault in the master or slave cylinder in the car? Or could this be a bad throwout bearing? Again its a really low mileage car and it's currently in the service department right now getting looked at by the Porsche dealer.

The car BTW, is garnet red with phone dials on it and the paint is in excellent condition (to my standards even ) It's almost as if it's my car just a year newer with the phone dials' i've always wanted

If anyone knows get back to me, I'd really appreciate it!

And thanks everyone for your concern and posts about the loss of my beauty

If the clutch is 'sticking' on the floor, then it could very well be the slave cylinder. With only 43K miles it's most likely original but after 18 years the slave is probably toast.
Have a PPI done at a different Porsche shop. Talk to the one that has maintained it but remember that they won't point out a problem if it's something they may have done.
It sounds like a great car, I hope it works out for you.

The '78 924 clutch is mechanical. Your Uncle's problem is most likely a bad clutch cable. I'm also guessing the 'sticking' clutch is a slave cylinder.

I will "third" the slave cylinder vote. If you haven't replaced it before, it's not too difficult. Well, let me rephrase that. Difficulty level is low, PITA factor is high though.

I'm "fifthing" the slave. If you buy the car and do the slave, it's a good idea to swap the master at the same time. And a pressure bleeder will help a lot!

Sounds like a great car (minus the clutch problem)! I would be all over it--original owner, great condition, good repair/maint records, low miles. Hard to beat that!

It's probably the slave, but it could also be something as simple as a misadjusted pedal. When I changed my master and slave(which they say to do at the same time), I didn't adjust the length of the arm that attaches to the master correctly. This caused a "sticky" clutch that felt like it was the slave, but wasn't.

Garnet Red is an awesoem color (hey, thats what I have!!) and also it's rare. Anyways, this can be a master or slave cylinder, but be careful. Even with the low mileage, the rubber centered clutch will not be the most reliable thing. The years will have taken its toll and the car should be fitted with a spring centered clutch anyways. Either way, it sounds like a good buy, but I'd have someone look at the clutch before buying it too. (mine only had 70K when the clutch went out and it had a sticking pedal too).
