Default Where to find a good used camshaft

I need to find a used camshaft asap. I'm not sure whether it is the intake or exhaust cam yet as I haven't opened anything up. Does anyone know where I can find one CHEAP (relatively speaking).

Why do you need it.
I have one, but the woodruff key slot is damaged - even though the slot is only slight damages, it could be a real problem when installed. The functional portion of the shaft worked great on the car before I replaced it.
So, if you're looking for one to mess with, I've got one for you, if you want to put it and forget about it, maybe you should hope for someone elses input.
Anyhow, my email is:

I found a tooth from one of the cam sprockets in my oil and it appears I'm headed for the infamous cam chain, tensioner, blah blah blah, kaboom! problem.

Ahhh, I didn't see that you had an 87S - I believe that the camshafts are very different.

CYiannou,

I saw complete 944S cams and lifters on eBay recently but have no idea if they sold or who the seller is. I think he wanted around $400 for the whole set.

You really need to remove the valve cover and see what has happened and I know you are not driving it, Right!?

Definitely not driving it. I'm getting it towed to my shop tomorrow, so they'll open it up and find out exactly what is going on. I just figured I'd give them a hand and start looking for the parts now.

EBay has had a camshaft for sale for about 2 months now. Check there.

Find out if it sold or not. Even if it did, the new owner might part with it.

I emailed the person who had the S head for sale, because I was interested in the parts. Later I saw the head on ebay and was following the auction. He end the auction early because he sold the head with the car it came off of.
I just bought a chain tensioner from Parts werks, in Chicago and in their email to me they indicated that they had the ability to repair teeth on a S cam, you might try them.

I have a cam but I'm not sure what 944 it came from. If you email me the part number, I can check if its what you need. tgurski@comcast.net

IceWater, does your cam have chain sprocket teeth in the middle of the cam? if not it is a turbo or NA cam.

97Xray - I might have a use for it. What are you offering?
