Default Jerry Seinfeld on the Carrera GT (Automobile article)

In the newest Automobile mag, (Feb 04 with the new vette and SLR on the cover) Jerry Seinfeld wrote a great article on the Carrera GT. It isn't up on the automobilemag.com website, but it is a very funny read. Check it out if you can. A few quotes:

Talking about the 911:
"...starting out with the completely wrong idea of where the engine is supposed to be and refusing to admit it for 55 years"

"Can you name another company in the history of companies that could get a positive PR spin off killing one of the biggest movie stars of the 20th century in one of it's products?"

"The new Porsche Carrera GT is not just the new benchmark, it's the new bench!"

The part about "justification and vindication" of anyone who ever drove a sports car on the street and their sacrifices..it was good too, but too long to type in.

Check it out if you can!

Very amusing deleted scene in "Comedian" of his trip to the Hershey swap meet. Even funnier w/ the director's commentary. Something about "Seinfeld taking us to this absolutely bizarre scene."

Hilarious.

He's not knocking it at alll.. I suppose it does sound that way from the quote I put up. Here's the whole paragraph:

"If you are eight years old, and this is your first car magazine, you may be wondering 'What is this Porsche thing?'. For me, it is a lot of things. Maybe it's starting out with the completely wrong idea of where the engine is supposed to be. and refusing to admit it for fifty-five years. I love that. 'We'll make it work anyway, damn it.' So what if it's wrong? It's a good kind of wrong."

He goes on to gush why Porsche is a particular type of "Cool".

I'm hesitant to scan it in for copyright reasons. Ya'll know how John doesn't want service manuals and PET's scanned in and uploaded, well I fear this would be the same thing .

How about you scan it to PDF, and make "let me view it" through my email, since if i see the article, i will most likely go buy the magazine. I just need to be more sure!

I'd didn't think he was knocking it either. Just because he is a big Porsche collector doesn't mean he can't see the quirks and shortcomings of some of their designs. Porsches are really fun, but they aren't perfect.
