Yeah it's sold. I tried my darndest to buy it but someone got to it apparently minutes before I did. If the current deal falls through I am next in line.

FSAEracer03 I thought for sure it was you who had purchased the car, since you had posted on the thread about buying it...
I wonder if it went to a Rennlister?

The AIR hood weighs right around 17lbs. I just got one. Pretty light compared to the factory hood.

FSAEracer03 I guess that means I can throw this voodoo doll out...and if youre home happens to be swarmed by locusts, I swear I had nothing to do with it.
PS: Oddly enough I've considered Brian McCoy's 951 as well, but I honestly can't get over that brown interior. Stupid hangup I know, but to each his own - great car nonetheless.

If I didn't need my money to take care of some things, than I would have gone on priceline.com, got a ticket, flew to CA, and drove that car back. How can you miss an oppurtunity like this?

Beleive me I wasn't happy about missing it. Whats worse is that if I hadn't been wasting my time on Rennlist and supporting the Exchange server that delayed the delivery of my initial email (GD Exchange 5.5), I may have gotten to Dave first.

That's less thah half- how much was it, where did you get it, etc? I think I'm going to run a search for it- I'm about to get my hood repainted, so, this would be the best time to buy a lightweight- BEFORE spending the $ on new paint...
Thanks,

Thanks,
Here it is on the car :
The only real issues with it are :
1. The front mount for the hood release didn't have the hole cut in it for the adjuster bolt. Doesn't sound too bad, til you realize they must of used 1/4-3/8" plate steel inbedded in the fiberglass. It's a bear to drill out to use the hood release.
2. The hood is so light weight, the factory struts don't work with it. I was afraid that they'll make the hood crack in half when trying to close the hood. They also apply so much pressure to the hood, that it bows it up. I'll have to track down some lower pressure hood struts, or go with a prop rod(which I really don't want to do).
Just release the hood, and it takes off and rockets to the up position, kinda scary actually.
Price was $350 on the hood. Purchased directly from AIR. All of my front end components are from AIR.

Thanks a lot for the input- it looks like it fits well- dod you have any other complaints about it at all? I'm thinking a nice old set of worn out hood shoks could be used w/it possibly(?)- also, getting rid of them & using a simple thin rod to hold it up might even save another pound or two(?)- I don't know- anyway, would you recommend it over a factroy roof if you had to replace your hood for some reason? I'm really interested now... I might just buy one instead of repainting mine- would save >23lbs- BTW- does that sound about right? That would mean it's less than half the weight of stock hood- say, ~$500 by the time it's painted & installed- if it saved a full 25lbs, that would be $20/lb & all that weight comes off the FRONT of the car- not TOO bad I guess... Are you happy overall???
Thanks again for all the info... I'm going to check out their site right now...
