I have to ask- why did you get the fiberglass hood? Do you still have the regular metal one? Do you have any idea how much the fiberglass one weighs? IF you part it out, maybe you'll be able to throw it on a scale(?)- there were a few of us debating the toal weight of these hoods awhiile back as several of us were considering carbon fibre for weight reductions... Do you notice the balance shaft belts being gone? There has been much debate over that as well- Scott Gomes, a VERY respected engine builder SWEARS the cars are better w/out & it's just ~20lbs of extra weight & rotational drag. He told me to remove the belt before I rebuild my engine & see how it feels & that I wouldn't notice a difference & that I could order his balance shaft delete kit for the rebuild. I've been told that flywheels being out of balance can make the belts MUCH more of a neccessity... ALSO- you said you wrapped the exhaust w/insulation- did that quieten the car down at all? Does the fibreglass hood make it noiseier or quieter or can you tell a dif at all? Sorry for all the questions, but, you've done some interesting things here- $4k is a VERY nice price BTW & if you weren't so far away, I'D be bidding on it myself...
Thanks,
Robby

Robby, the roof is fiberglass, not the hood. The hood is the normal metal hood. I do notice the balance shaft belt being gone. Mostly in noise, but the engine does seem to rev faster. Nobody can debate the fact that the engine can give more power to moving the car with the belt gone; the debate is over the thought that the power gain is noticable. It is hard to tell by a butt-dyno, because the added noise biases your opinion. Maybe you would notice 5HP on a dyno, who knows. Finally, the exhaust wrap didn't quiet the car down at all, however, it did have a noticable effect in spool-up time.

I can't believe it's not sold yet. People here are always clamoring for a good 951 at a good price. When a deal like this pops up you have to jump on it.
If I didn't buy my S2 last year for $4800 I'd be all over this one and if I wasn't going through a divorce right now I'd be on it anyway.

Thanks for the input- I really appreciate it...
Porschefig- that's the debate anyway- the reliability issues- Gomes says no, but, I've been told that flywheels balancing is critical & there are some people who say it's crazy to run w/out them.... I think I'm going to leave well enough alone now that I've heard this- I'm about scared to screw w/anything in this car...
