Default Shift Boot glue?

OK, I admit I'm not that swift.
Bought an AGLA shift boot, says to use glue.

What type of glue?? Rubber cement? Elmers?

Thanks.

The shift boots that were on the cars from the factory used glue under the shift pattern cap. After 20 years the glue they used is all deteriorated and useless. I would just put it in without the glue and if I find it starting to come loose then I would look into some glue. You would not want to stick that shift pattern cap in there permanently. Think of the next owner and save a few kittens.

Travis, I managed to remove the shift pattern cap, but I have a lot of extra vinyl from the top of the shift boot. Do i just try and jam it all inside there, or cut it off? Thanks.

You could trim it a little if you wanted the lower part of the boot to fit tighter. Most people just slide it down and leave the bottom bunched up. The shifter top part gets taken off of the shifter and put in the boot from the top the reattached to the shifter. It is held on there with a small clip.

I have the pictures I took of an install this weekend but I just have to make up a tutorial with it. That and I also got around to making up a power steering pump tutorial also. I should get them posted by tomorrow night.

Awesome, with this kind of customer support, I'll make sure to shop at Rennbay a lot more often.

lol, thats not good customer support. Good customer support would have been me having made a tutorial for the install a few weeks ago and had it ready for you when you got your boot. I guess I am slacking a little . Its been a busy month for me. Got some new stuff just about ready for you guys.

It not the glue under the cap, it's the glue to make the leather hug the shifter like factory.
