My new/old early ‘85 944 (w/pic)
Early ‘85, 30,000 original miles. Not concours cond., but damn close. My high school dream car. I’m a 911 guy, but haven’t driven my 997 4S much in the couple months I’ve had the 944. It brings a huge smile to my face every time I hop in it. No ABS, traction control, stability management systems or other nanny controls. Handling is insanely good and 143 hp is just fine. Best car purchase I’ve ever made.

Color = Stone Grey
Stone Grey per the US window sticker (which is in perfect condition.), or “steingrau” per the body sticker. Thx for the compliments. Of course, ALL the credit goes to the original owner who drove less than 1k miles/yr. and kept the car in a climate-controlled garage for over 3 decades. I really feel honored to be the current caretaker, intend to pass it on decades from now in the same cond.
Other cool tidbits include the air compressor in it’s perfect cardboard box, a bottle of nearly unused Porsche window cleaner, and original and beautifully patina’d Porsche leather key fobs. Black interior leather is truly flawless (not even a sign of wear on the driver’s bolster), the dash is completely crack-feee(!) and the original a/c blows ice cubes.
Literally the only thing that wasn’t factory functional was the Blaupunkt Monterey, which the window sticker indicates was a $625 option (not an insignificant option for a $26k car in 1985). It had a few lights out and the tape function had issues, is being refurbished with oem parts as I type!
Oh yeah, my specialized license plate is reserved/on order from the CA DMV. It’ll read: “YLWDIAL.”
Cheers!

Oh sorry, tires...
Sorry, you also asked about tires. It came with brand-new H-rated Kelly A/S’s. I thought to replace with Falkens or even Pirelli’s but ya know, they drive just fine for the mildly spirited driving I do.

Three Wheelin'
THIS is the way to find 'em ! The previous owner kept a real cherry picked just for you.
Congratulations on a stellar looking buy.....
Great color. Simply beautiful.
How do the 'option codes' read out ?

Wow, that's a beauty, congratulations on a great find. I'm quite envious of your air compressor's cardboard box, a needed item for my low mileage 84. Feel free to post more pictures as most of us love original cars.. Great color too, same as my S2. It blends well with the road and doesn't attract the eye like "Arrest Me Red".
