I know ABS was a new technology back in 1987 but correct me if I'm wrong, it never stood for ANTI-BLOCK SYSTEM ???

When Bosch developed their ABS system, they called it Anti Blocking System.

Yes Jeff it did.
The window stickers on all my Porsches of this era with ABS and also my Audi 200 Turbos and Quattros with ABS, have this on their window stickers.

It is what the Germans called it when first developed.
And I remember folks at the track being mad about it on their DE / track cars and defeating the system, because they believed they were able to outbrake the technology. Which some could do.

Some also defeated their Airbags as well, tho usually after a 'first encounter' with an immovable object rendered them used. Along with new steering wheels and a windshield.

Some because the 'anti-block' didn't work after it was rendered in-operative. (-;

Well, thanks for schooling me! The ABS acronym that I knew was always Antilock Braking System.

You learn something new everyday.

I also know that one of the first ABS-type systems was available as an option on1971 Chryslers. can't recall what the system was called.

Thanks!

Your car Jeff? That is a pretty loaded example.
I believe a lot of those options became standard on the 88 Turbo S.
