Default 931/924 exhaust

My car sounds like it has an exhaust leak. I haven't crawled under it yet but I wouldn't be surprised to find some holes in the muffler. The tail pipe piece is also missing, but I don't think that provides much of an audible difference.

What do folks generally use? Can I just get a similarly-sized Borla or Magnaflow or something, and have a muffler shop cut the old one of and weld this on? Or is there a better choice?

931 exhaust is different from 924 exhaust obviously.
strange how so many cars in us have rotten exhausts, both my cars have the original exhaust in good condition.
931 is knownto have cracked downpipe, cracked wastegate, cracked exhaust manifold.
both my cars had cracked wastegates.

if you dont care about originality you can weld anything you want to it but being a 931 you may want to buy original parts.

both my 924 turbos have stainless rear portion and a strange steel for the front portion of the exhaust, very light and does not really rust.

944 NA exhaust would be a fine option.

I do care a bit more about originality with this relatively rare car....I'm not opposed to making a few mods, but I'd like any of that to be easily reversible. The muffler would be one of those things that I'm not too worried about...I'd actually like it to be louder/better sounding than stock.

The rest of the exhaust...that's a good point. I am assuming my muffler is the issue but I need to get under there and inspect the sections before that.

Take a look under the car before you assume stuff.
WG crack or downpipe cracks are common and if the car has the original exhaust, I doubt its the muffler that's corroded.
If you want a louder exhaust just cut off the rear tail pipe after the silencer and weld around a bigger diameter pipe, you will not believe how much better and louder it sounds.

here is mine, factory exhaust, just the tip changed to a bigger diameter stainless steel pipe.

Well that's interesting...mine is completely missing the tail section aft of the muffler, but I assumed that was simply decorative. However, if putting a bigger tip affected your sound, maybe that's why mine is so loud?
