I posted yesterday saying I was going to look at a 951, for those who missed, 1987 944 Turbo, 64K miles, timing belt done last year (about 3K or 4K ago), recently installed 968 motor mounts, Guards Red on Black. I took it out for a drive yesterday, it was awesome! When the boost kicked in the tach just went crazy all the way to redline. It pulled great, I'm addicted already. Must...fight...boost. And it was beautiful! It did run a little warm, but I don't remember the fans coming on (matter of fact, after I shut it off, I didn't hear the fans running like I do on mine when I shut it off) Also, it seems to have a little oil leak, towards the front of the engine, he said he was told seals. He's asking $8,000. Here are the pictures. Tell me what you think!

Looks very nice, and the price sounds right too so long as the PPI checks out -- you _are_ getting one... right?
I've learned the hard way that it's wise to spend a bit more upfront and get an excellent example initially. You'll save in the long run. Looks like you might have found a keeper though.... contingent on that PPI! ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Best wishes,

Looks very nice!
1. Get a PPI!
2. See #1
Seriously, the front seal issue could be a major expense if you can't do the work yourself. If the oil is getting on the balance shaft belt and/or timing belt, disaster will be forthcoming unless it is taken care of....
Love the color! (yes I am biased..) :-)

Yes, PPI will be forthcoming, as soon as my dad gets back from Hawaii (tomorrow). I can't wait, I think I'm actually twitching sitting in my work chair...

If the waterpump, seals and rollers haven't been done, $8k is too high. Try to knock that back a bit. IF you don't do your own work, that's a $1.5k+ issue to resolve. IF you can do your own work, you're still looking at about $450 or so in parts.

I haven't done my own work in the past on the '88, only b/c it's my daily, as my sister drives the '84. But with the turbo, I'll still keep the N/A for my daily, and drive the 951 when the weather's good. I will most likely be doing my own work on it. I'll have to check the receipts, I know the timing belt was done last year, and by a local reputable shop (Rennsport), so I would imagine they did all the regular stuff as well as the belt (W/P, rollers, seals, etc.)

Then why is a front seal leaking? If it is, and it 's getting on the timing belt, that negates the value of all of that work. Check that baby out!
Good luck!
