Fast clicking sound Porsche 944

I have a very fast clicking sound in the cabin of my 944. It seems to be connected to the air condition system. When the sliders on the dash are in the middle, it is very infrequent. When the sliders are full open, the clicking sound is very fast. Sounds like a solenoid clicking 10-20 times a second. The sound comes from under the passenger side dash area on my LHD car.
Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks Damien

When I was stripping excess wiring out of my car there were 2 AC relays up under the far right of the dash on the passenger side. It could maybe be one of those starting to fail and fluttering on and off instead of switching like it should.
That's just a guess. I'm sure someone that knows more about the workings of the AC and electrical systems will chime in with a more solid opinion.
I'm not sure what year car you have but I saw those in my '83.

Lots of owners have this problem, but there's no definitive solution because no one has definitively figured out the cause.

This seems to be the best lead on a solution. I'm just about to try this myself.

FWIW, both of my solenoids hold vacuum, so it's not a bad diaphragm. I'm very confident it's just an electrical/electronic issue in the control unit.
