Exclamation Possible 911

Ok here is my dilemma in the spring I have the possibility to pick up a nice early SC 911 (1979) for a very good price. The only thing is I have to sell the 944 and I have become attached to the 944. There are several people around here that are willing to give me 5500 to 6000 for it and I know that is a great price for an early 944 but with the body and color bein pretty custom for around here where we have about 20 Porsches let alone 944’s it stands out a lot. I just don’t know what to do because not many people my age have a chance to own a 911 but then again my 944 was my first car and it holds a special place with me. Can some one who has been in the spot to get rid of there car for something else give me there Input?

Can you sell the 944 to a family member with a buy back option? Or get a loan for 5 or 6K and keep both?

My 944 is my first car. I think it would be great if I could keep for a long time. It will probably finish as a track car in a couple of years... but it will still be mine.

I'll need 3 cars: 944 for track/other, 930 weekend car, winter beater. I'm only missing the 930!

The money is not the issue but we only have room for 4 cars and my 944 would be one to many :>(

thedyingiraffe, what are you talkin about? my 924S is universal! it's my track car, my daily driver, my weekend warrior, and my winter beater! man, I love that car.

Robby, that sounds tempting. Check insurance first... I personally would go with the cheaper.

Get a loan, get the 911, park it outside where it belongs Make it your daily beater car, you know the one you put manure in the front for gardening Keep the 944 nice and clean in the garage.

Hey!!

Seriously, in your position I would go ahead and get the 911 (well, okay, I already did, so you know that). It will be an interesting experience, and you can always return to the 944-fold, possibly getting something even nicer than you have now (newer, maybe a turbo?) and still have some change left over after you return. The car world is full of guys that "coulda hadda" whatever - be the guy that DID. And hey! Let your buddies drive once in a while - share the wealth.

It’s a hard decision I put a lot of work into my 44 to make it something special and I'm getting ready to put the new dash in. But a 911 is soooooooooo tempting I mean I have 41/2 months to decide the 911 is sitting next to my 944 in storage. Plus U guys are the best on the net if I went to the 911 board I would prob get flamed for bein to young and get a 4 page lecture LOL.
