Yeah V2, it's time to crack open that wallet, let the moths fly out, and buy some new parts.

have a local "foreign car parts" shop i'll visit today, they said they have the blue clutch hose on hand, will give them a shot with the MC/SC/etc for pricing vs Pelican.

Does this mean you have not flushed the brake/clutch system in 10 years?

Yup.
Never knew it was recommended to do every few years until recently.
Have added and bled fluid a few times over the years when brake lines have been opened up but never a full fluid exchange.

In 10 years [100k miles?], have you ever bled the clutch fluid at the slave? If not, the fluid that comes out of your slave will look like spent oil.

Before you go out shopping for parts [BMC, CMC, CSC], put a fresh liter of fluid through the [brake and] clutch lines.

more like 50k miles if that.
and not from the slave, that i can recall. only at brakes (removed rear suspension a few times).

i already have the new clutch cylinders on hand. place down the street was within $5 total of Pelican and got me stuff next day.

will just flush thru the brake system.

but yeah, never knew there was a service interval for brake fluid.

Amazing! How about the coolant? there is a service interval on that also. some guys say 2 years, other guys say 5...I'm with the 5 year interval crowd..at least on my Camry...or when I get around to it.

coolant...that got done more regularly with water pump changes and having a bad rad cap for a while meant it was getting topped off constantly

My cylinders where actually still good but the flex line had been rubbing the brake booster. everything was replaced for good measure. It was close to three bones for FTE, the line and fluid.

Report back on if that FTE pressure hose fits, someone said early cars needed one slightly longer or something. I have one on hand and have that job coming up.

anyone confirm that the 944 clutch system is supposed to be inverted flare, not bubble flare?
thought euro cars tended to be bubble flare.

the MC/SC/line i got are inverted flare so they should all work together fine, just curious.

I was at a seminar where one of the manufacturers reps spoke. You are correct that silicone fluid doesn't absorb moisture. However moisture gets in, and the way I understood it, the moisture is a water bubble in the system. Similar to an air bubble, it compresses differently than the hydraulic fluid.

The tests for moisture will always show zero because water/silicone it is like oil and vinegar, if you test the oil, it will never have vinegar.

As I recall, the 944 S2 is a bubble flare, I can positively confirm my '85 928S3 is bubble,

Wait. I'm thinking brake lines.

My 928 is an auto. All of the brake lines on it are bubble. When I took apart the brakes on the 944S2 I recall they were also bubble. I can't be sure about the clutch lines on either.
