Default Sunroof now works

I got the parts needed to make my sunroof work last Friday and spent a couple of hours installing them. I had to add new arms, new gears, their covers and put the gear cable (or what ever it’s called) back in. Everything seams to work fine. The only question I have is I hear that when the key is in the on position the arms should move in the locked positions and when the key is in the accessory position you can get the arms to the remove position. Well mine works like this; when the key is in the accessory position or in the on position the arms go all the way to the remove position without stopping but when the car starts to roll the arms move to the locked position like its suppose too. When you shut the roof when your moving it also goes into the locked position, which is good. I’m just not sure why it will not go into the locked position when the car is on but not rolling.

Any ideas?

Thanks for all of the great articles and stories.

The car has something in it that will automatically lock the roof when the wheels start moving.

Works the same when you lock the door.

I understand why it locks when the car is moving but I do not know why it will not go into the locked postion when the car is NOT rolling and the key is in the on position.

What parts did you buy to fix this and how much did it cost. Also who did you buy it from. My motor works but nothing seems to be catching.

Thanks

I got the parts from www.HoustonEuropean.com [email.services@andale.com]. Follow this link to see what I purchased http://www.andale.com/stores/sf_item...8158516&mode=1

I only needed the caps the gears and the arms though.

Let me know if you need any help.

there is a "microswitch on the middle of the front in mine that is pressed by the front middle of the sunroof when the roof is plced on the car, however, I just converted mine to a manual sunroof so the switch does nothing but fill a hole now.

It's s triangular looking plate about 1" on each side and it is pressed by a little tab on the front middle of the sunroof as I said.

That one works fine. I think that switch is for the up position if i'm not mistaken.

Thanks

that makes me think that there must be something tying the ignition to the sunroof switch - there may be something wrong in that connection - that wiring would be a good start. It may just be adjusted worng too. Iv've heard the adjustment of the sunroof mechanism can be very hard sometimes.

Thats what I'm thinking. I do not mind it working this way, infect it probable works better. The way it is now you do not have to turn the car off to remove the sunroof and as long as your moving the sunroof will alway be in the locked position and it stays their.

So I'm not really complaining just curios.

Thanks
