Exclamation need new ground cable set... Now!!!

I need new grounds. I would really like to get an Iceshark Kit, but i don't have the time to wait for one right now. I need to get my car back on the road by early next week and this is the last thing in need. Anybody know a sollution rather than the dealer?

Also, I got an Optima red top, do i need a mounting kit or anything of the sort?

-Thanx, David

Somewhere like Pepboys or Autozone should have some generic ground wires. They are just really thick wires, after all.

You need a 31" ground wire from the negative cable to the engine. I found a 1-gauge at an auto-parts store.

You need a 8"-12" cable that the bolt on the battery post side of the cable could go through, that would bolt to the chassis ground. I found a 4-gauge cable at an auto-parts store.

I did this solution for less than $15, it worked OK.

I have some O gauge cable you can have to make grounds. You just need to strip the ends, get some connectors from Lowe's or Home Depot, figure out how to crimp them (I have some ideas) and you're good to go I would think.

If you want just the main grounds, from battery to inner firewall and battery to bellhousing I could get them to you pretty quick, depending on how much you want to spend on shipping. I've got them built and they are $44 plus the shipping and packing material. Also have the supplemental from the front of motor to frame rail for $20. The supplemental is covered in fireproof fiberglass sleeve as it snakes along the engine and gets hot.

This solution is much better than a PepBoys one. They use cheaper wire and if you are lucky the stranding will be 156 in a #1 AWG. Probably lower down to even 30 strands if an asian cable. The cable I use is 812 to 844 strand depending on who is making it. So you won't have fatigue fracture problems. New millitary marine battery clamp, tinned Molex terminals that are crimped, soldered and sealed - they will last longer than you will on this planet.

Do what you want but I think it would be hard to duplicate my cables for the price.

Hard to duplicate for price or the quality. Do it once, do it right.

Grounds are a good item to replace, however, you better be damn sure your power feed lines are all in good shape.

Hi Brian,

Yeah, I went ***** to the wall on both the headlight package and battery cables.

I'm/we 924/944/968 owners are fortunate that I have an automotive "soul brother" that works in the distrubution biz and cuts me the good prices on hard to get industrial parts prices. Some price quotes were 5 times more than what I'm paying.

If one was doing a one-off build you would be screwed on cost just getting the parts, if you could even get them to sell to you.

Doh! Why did I just go to Tweeks and get a new -ve battery lead, when I knew I should have come to Iceshark.

Story is the clamp on mine is all bent out of shape, so to undo it to put a new headunit in was going to guarantee that I wouldn't get it back on.

Guess you could send the Tweeks item back and suck up the charges from that. My set is MUCH better. Just ask Rennlisters. They are my biggest PR band.

BTW, since you have problems with the clamp opening up all the way, these milittary marine clamps have a steel spring cast into the center. The spring forces the clamp to open back up and you can just pull it off, simple as pie.

Iceshark,

I've heard of your great products. I'll order yours shortly,

How are plans on producing another batch of the Full Boat kit? I think you mentioned $100 deposit, and you'd get around to it once the sufficient quantities to satisfy ordering had been reached.

Martin,

I've gottem the final parts. First few of the Full Boat should be done next weekend.

So, send in the check. The total pice in the USA, including shipping is up from. 349,50 369.50. For price increase just look at what the Euro has done against the dollar.
