underhood fuel line replacement question
In the engine bay, there are 3 lines, the incoming, the return, and a short 4-6" piece running from the regulator to the fuel rail. My short piece is leaking, and I have a replacement question. All existing connections are bolted together, with the exception of the return line, which is clamped to the thing that looks like the FPR (is it the fuel pressure damper?) I am assuming the incoming lines are bolted/mechanically connected due to the pressure they are under. Would it be OK for me to replace the short piece with the same size line, held in place with hose clamps (cheap and easy way to go), or should I get the correct part with the mechanical connections at the ends? I guess my question is whether or not it really matters...

Tomc,
Call Porsche and have them check to see if your car has undergone the recall service yet for that leaking hose. If not, you'll get it done for free (~$65).
I posted Porsche's # and recall campaign number on a earlier post, so do a search under my name.
HTH!

I just replaced that line, i got the line from 944racing.com, but unfortunetly they are not taking orders until after the holidays i guess. Was about 50 bucks if i remember right. Easy to replace. I didnt bother trying to get porsche to replace it free, i figured if it lasted 17 years, then it probably held up pretty good.

I am 99% sure you can just take the fuel hose straight to the rail and by-pass the dampner all together.
