Spent the day cleaning the engine.
I still got a lot of work to do, I swear this engine bay has never been cleaned.
Thought I'd share a pic of the progress...

Yep she is running just fine. I coated all electrical items with wd40 (to displace water) and I also covered major items with plastic bags to prevent damage to old seals.
I plan on pulling the engine just after xmas, it will be my first Porsche engine rebuild so should be fun!

Looking at these pics always makes me think what a rats nest of wire we have in there. Is there any way you could safely remove any of that? I'm thinking of doing an AC Delete on mine, which should help clean some of it up, but without that...anything else?

I was wondering about the practicality of powder coating the cam cover.

Kenny, I used a generic performance filter and added the K&N oil. I'll get you the part number.
There is only one additional hose running of the original air box, I haven't figured out the purpose of this hose yet.
It doesn't appear to be vacuum related, I'll update when I figure it out.
I believe scootin159 frontend is a Fiberwerks front bumper and spoiler kit.

Is that bent white piece a bracket you made to keep it off the alternator? I bought a similar mount for about $15 off Ebay just for the hell of it, i didnt notice any difference at all to tell you the truth. The filter rested on the alternator, so i only took it out for my 'test runs' about 5 times, ended up leaving a black burnt mark on the filter where it rested on the alternator. Needless to say i really dont use it at all anymore. As for that hose that connects into the airbox, i believe it was meant to help get condensation out from under the belt covers, atleast thats what someone said over on 924Board. I personally believe its their to provide ventalation to the crank case.
Also t1tec, have you considered changing the throttle cam to the 1:1 peformance type cam? Will really liven throttle response up.
