914 at Witchita car show
Does anyone know of the black 914-6 that was at the Witchita, Kansas car show last weekend. It was absolutely amazing. Someone here has got to know this car.

One of the best 914-6's I ever saw was a black one Chuck Stoddard had way back in the dark ages- had subtle rear fender flares to allow 7" rears front clear Italian turn lenses (which I promptlly found and bought after seeing those) . Always have wondered what happened to that car...

The car was flared and it was definetly amazing. Did the 914-6 ever offer any factory flaring? I am sure not but it was done so tastfull that it looked completely correct. There is a local Porsche guy that I met at the 928 convention that sounds like he is one of the main Porsche guys in Witchita. I will try to contact him and see if he knows anything about the car and update if I find anything out. This 914 was at the Sat. night street show in dowtown Witchita.

I am former Wichita President. I know which car you are talking about. It is a conversion , not a real 6. It has a 2.2 911 engine. He just recently finished car, spent lots of time and effort on car over several years.

re: the Stoddard car. Regardless of their rarity, I would hardly call the factory GT flares "tasteful." Back in the day the local dealer (K.C. then) called me when a GT came in (ordered by a guy that turned it down because it didn't have the real european GT engine) to try and get me to trade my set-up '70 914-6 for it. I turned it down in a hurry; 'way too ugly for me. Looked weird with the flares barely filled by the stock wheels and tires.

Everybody has their own thing. The thing about the 914-6GT the factory peddled was it didn't have wheels/tires to match. From the rear looked like a little old lady hiking her skirts to go across a puddle.
