Actually, many prefer the Mahle gas cooker wheels over the Fuchs--I believe they are lighter.

What's the vin on it? Is it an original 2.0l or a conversion?
I owned a '73 without the appearance group, and I actually like the way it looked better. I also agree with Dan, I like the gas burners too! They look amazing if you can find them.

My '76 had a trifecta.. the previous owner supplied beautiful Mahles and some pedrinis and I sourced a set of Fuchs

Having had some steel wheels develp stress cracks around the lug bolt holes, I am wary of using them. Although a nice set of 4.5x15 with hubcaps can be a nice look too

The front grilles are the normal stock ones for non fog light cars. My '74 had them.

From my view they appear to be a piece of flat aluminum cut to cover the hole. Whether fog light or not, the factory covering was a Grill.. Some were chromed to go with chromed bumpers, others were body colored to match the painted bumper.

I can't even tell what those foglight covers look like from that photo. But I have had cars with black ones and cars with chrome ones. I have had them cut out for fogs and have them solid on cars that don't have fogs.

And desireable or not, I am pretty sure the Mahles didn't come out until '74. I am suspecting that if we got a vin on this car it would prove to be a '74. Not that it would change the value at all, but I think the year on this car is listed wrong. Too many things don't line up.

My understanding was that all the 73 2.0's had the appearance group as standard. Porsche was still offering the 1.7 as an alternative in 73, and thus, they were subject to whatever options the buyer or dealer chose.

Gas burners are for a five lug wheel and are on sixes.

And were magesium, making them the lightest production wheel Porsche ever used. I am pretty sure the 914-4 version is not mag.

The Mahle 4 lug wheels are aluminum. Not nearly as cool or valuable either.

Yep. That's my understanding, though I personally need a set for my Bumble Bee.

The factory OEM grills were both chromed with horizontal slats on non-special edition cars. If the car had foglights the grills had a circular cutout amongst the slats.

If no foglights were included, they were solid slats across the opening.

The factory never provided black grills on any standard edition 914. They were always chromed, whether the front bumpers were the chromed ones or the black painted ones.

I successfully mounted a set of round Cibie foglights behind the regular slatted grills and they still put out effective lighting.
