Default 1973 2.0 914 - what should I ask for it?

I have a 1973 Porsche 914 2.0 with ~63,000 miles on it.
Just don't get to enjoy it so it's time to trim the fleet.

Any thoughts?

Condition? Rust? We need more details to give you a fair estimate.

Anwhere from $1500-12000 depending on overall condition (nee rust), original FI? Carbs? At first glance it looks pretty nice.. maybe an $8k car.. dash looks ok.. seats look good.. center console.. No appearance group items (vinyl, chrome bumpers etc).. Fog light covers/grills seem unusual..

Hows the battery box? How are the longitudinals? How are the floor pans and how are the trunks.

Where are you located? Southern California has tons of these cars.. Boston Ma? Not so much, so it could impact price simply based on local availablity or "geographically desireable".

How old are things like rubber/plastic fuel lines? CVs? Weatherstriping?

As for not enjoying it? sorry to hear that... On the other hand, my dad's kept his 914-6 since new.. and there were many years where he "didn't enjoy" it much, but he's kept it anyway. If its not "costing" you to keep it, why not just store it for a while?

A good 2.0 can easily bring in a price in the teens. But like Matt and racer said we need way more details.

Located in Kalamazoo, Michigan; complete original factory injection, strong body that isn't rusted.
All new fuel lines ~5 years ago, needs new tires (due to age), shocks are original and should be replaced.

I have too large a fleet and no place to store, also have 85 Scirocco and 67 GMC longstep pickup
that I am going to sell.

If anyone is interested in the car please contact me fastscirocco_2000@yahoo.com

Either share more pics (and of places mentioned above) or post ot a fileshare site. Any serious potential 914 buyer will want lots of pics. The results of those pics will further refine a price range..

If in fact strong overall, but in need of tires, shocks and likely bushings, I would refine to a $8-12K range, if you want to actually sell it. You could always ask a lot more and wait.. and wait..

Again, agree with racer. Post some picture of the "trouble" spots on it.

I'm a little confused. I thought all '73 2.0l were appearance group cars by definition. That would mean this car is missing fog lights, chrome bumpers, sail trim, and 4-bolt Fuchs.

What's the vin on it? Is it an original 2.0l or a conversion?

Not true. I've seen many '73s (during the '70s) without the full appearance package.

While its possible that a low optioned car was skewed towards one end, or the other, of "73" production. By '74, the appearance group was an option. So.. I could see this being a) an early car, b) a late car or 3) ordered a certain way. Black paint was also kind of rare, so perhaps it was optioned a certain way by the original owner.

Default odd - appearance group?

from the pictures it has the appearance group option interior (center console guages), but it's missing the appearance group option exterior (fog lights, vinyl/leater roll bar side covers, etc)...

Chrome bumpers were also a part of the appearance group. This car doesn't have them either. Which leads me to believe that it may have been "specd" as such. With interior console (and gauges) but not the external appearance items.

Mahles were not a part of the 1973 2.0 package. Also, something is amiss on the front end with those odd fog covers. Post more pics for a better evaluation.

Exactly part of my point. The wheels are not right for a '73. A '73 2.0l would have had 4 bolt Fuchs if it was optioned with alloys.

The wheels are Mahles and a factory available wheels. Given the lack of chrome bumpers and sail vinyl, I'm not thrown off by the non-fuchs wheels.
