Default Watkins Glen Woo Hoo!!

My first visit to the Glen with the 912. I was weary of the elevation changes ad long straights. Once again however, the ole girl did great. She never fails to amaze me!! passing 993s!! and duking it out with a 72' 911 as well as a Raby powered 914 2.2. Day two tomorrow, great weather, can't wait. Pics to follow......

Picture perfect event. The 912 was outstanding. It was nearly over before it began however. Due to the elevation change (ASL), the plugs fouled while unloading from the trailer!! after a plug change an leaning out the carbs she ran like a champ 6k rpm all day, WOT for a lot of the track and she really shined from the 'bus-stop' to the front straight. I past all 3 993s in my run group (white) and 2 944s. Hell, I past 4 cars in one shot between turns 5 and 6! Nobody can out brake me in this car!

Some more shots from WGI. Our luxurious accomodations provided by the The Seneca Lodge. where $45/night is a little pricey

Nice pics!

Were you "flat" from T1 to the bus stop?

Yes. Out of turn one in 4th gear and then shift to 5th at turn-in to the Esses. Top of the esses in 5th 5200rpm, 6k in 5th braking into the BS. Quick stab, heel toe to 4th slide through the BS....... Remember I'm running a short ratio 901 so it's 4th and 5th everywhere but the toe and heel and turn 9 back up on the the nascar course.

Thanks!

The steel wheels, as seen on the trailer, are my street set. The wheels are the originals that came with the car, 15x4.5" all date stamped 8/66 w/ .25" spacers. Tires are Dunlop SP sportA2s (nothing special) 195/65/15. I can go up another .25" all around so I most likely just get a set of four .50" spacers with studs if they make them that small......

Track set are 14x5.5" fuchs with Kumho V710s 205/50/14. Good stick!!

One of these days (when I hit the lottery), I'll pick-up a set of 15x6" fuchs for both the street and track.
