My 87 factory slant had it too.

curiosity kills the cat....
took some pics of the "oil cooler" / "condenser" for you expert opinion.
I guess at the end of the day I will just put her on the tread mill and see how she does.....

That's interesting, Paul...had never heard a reference to the 148 code before. Didn't realize the powerkit package received its own option number from the factory.

Thanks for that tidbit.

While I'm far from an expert, that does not look like an oil cooler to me.

Yes, by all means...put her on the tread mill!

I'm pretty sure that is the A/C condenser up front, I think my 930 even has the same guard / screen cover too. I will have to look.

Twin out pipes were a factory option

Its an AC Condenser in front, mine has it,
I think all Euro 930's had them when fitted with climate control,

I can tell you it definately is not an oil cooler because i removed mine cos of the rust and turned the area into a cooling area for the petrol tank with a scoop where the condenser was

Euro cars Extra HP to be taken into account, from 75 to 77 they had 260hp, from 78 they had 300hp in factory trim and went to 330hp in the eighties not sure which year

Normaly on 330 hp car you must have this additionnal pressure sensor on the side of the intercooler.

Your motor code must be 930.66 S

And on the front it's a oil cooler, you must have on the left side on your front trunk the oil pipe, insulated

Thank you for posting those photos...very nice.

That "pressure sensor" appears to be a re-located stock vacuum limiter. If so, the other end of that front-facing 3mm vacuum line should attach at the throttle body. Can you see if the "sensor" is labeled, 930.110.173.00, and if that vacuum line runs to the TB?

Re: the oil cooler, are you saying the 930.66S-engined cars have a second center-mounted oil cooler [installed where non-S cars have one of two refrigerant condensers] that is connected in series [by those insulated lines that run inside the trunk] to the passenger fender-mounted Carrera cooler?

Normaly you don't have the standard small oil cooler in the front right wing, but the big central oil cooler in the front spoiler

My car is not an S but I have this oil cooler and the S spoiler

Thanks for that tidbit.

Nice car...sitting at RS ride height. Interesting lower valance...first one I've seen.

That's the factory piece that was fitted to S-engined cars? Is it made from polyurethane, fiberglass, or steel?

By the way, what is your average oil temperature, under various operating conditions, during the summer with that cooler/valence set up?

With the Carrera cooler under the right wing, during autumn/spring [15* C], my temp usually hovers around 90* C. I have to exercise her spiritedly to get the temp up to 110*C to effectively burn off any water vapor.

During the summer [35* C] in city traffic, my temp easily gets to 110* C. Even cruising at 80-100 kph, the temp stays around 100* C.

Looks like Meteor Gray.....I had an 85 that I drove for 11 years in that color....a fantastic color on a 930...shows all the curves and the light really dances off the rear flares...
