Unhappy dancing oil pressure gauge

Not sure where to start looking for the cause.

Gauge needle at 0 when ignition off, pinned to 5 upon starting up and driving, and dances all over the place at idle.

Is this a bad sending unit or a bad gauge? Are there some voltages to check with a meter to troubleshoot one .vs. the other?

I've removed the oil temp-pressure gauge and cleaned the contacts during my NR Auto- aluminum faces upgrade, but it still does the same old dance.

Check the sending unit wiring connection. It gets loose very often.
