Post Group buy on K27-7200 Turbochargers

If there is any interest in a new KKK K27-7200 turbochargers, a group purchase if available. If you have read some of my earlier posts KKK has been purchased by Borg Warner. There is a scheduled price increase of 10-15% on turbochargers. If I can get 4 people to join in I can get them for $872.12 plus inbound and outbound frieght. I suspect it to be less than $35.00 additional. If there is alot of support Borg Warner will drop ship them at no charge. These are new, current production turbochargers, not old stock. I have addition specs, sizes and numbers if needed.

Kevin,
If you get four I can help out with this. We did this a couple of months ago so I know we can do better than the 872.00 Let me know if you need help.

I want to thank all who have emailed me with the lower price. The distributor has lowered the price to $840.00. As of this moment, we have filled the requirements for this purchase. Email me if interested. Thanks.

Question

Anybody know what a stock '89 turbocharger is worth these days as a core to a rebuilder? Maybe I can defray a few of the $840 so I can afford one of these beauties.....

Hello guys! I own a 1989 944 turbo and am in the middle of engine rebuild. I had an unfortunate theft incident involving my new k27/8 turbo, factory intercooler and 2 oversized pistons (why they didn't take all four I'll never know) and now have to start again. What is the difference between the K27/8 and the k27 - 7200? Back when I still had my k27 turbo I compared it to a k27 that was going onto a 911 and noticed the hotside on the 911 turbo was much larger. I've been told the exhaust side of the k27/8 is fairly small tends to build backpressure at higher boost levels. Is the solution to this to go with the garrett or is there a kkk unit that makes a good match? Thanks!

laszlo;

The K29 is alot larger. You will have more lag but a strong top end. I would recommend switching over to a Garrett TSO4 with a 72mm compressor wheel, and a 1.00 AR turbine housing. This application is not recommended for the street.

I see ads for a K-28 that is supposed to be the next hot setup. Has anyone tried one? If so, what the difference between that and a K-27?

Rick,
It is not a new set up at all. In fact the K28 has been used on large equipment for quite some time. It doesn't make the power of the K29 and doesn't spool as fast as a K27. It really is not an improvemnt over any of the K27s and the HP increase is minumal. Just another marketing ploy.

Rick;

The K28 are old designs, you can find them on Perkins Diesels and many others. If one needs a larger turbo, switch to a Garrett.
