Default Chance to Buy 1984 930 Cheap!

Please pardon my ignorance but I may have a deal in the works through a source on a 1984 930 turbo that I can purchase from a widow who has had the car in storage for a few years. Yes, I know it sounds dumb but she has accepted a conditional offer of $5K sight unseen.

I know very little about this model and know it seems risky but are parts readily available? Is this model collectable? Supposedly she knows nothing about the car as well except its a 1984 turbo. Is this an absurd risk not seeing a stored 930 and offering this amount?

Depends on the conditions of your "conditional" offer. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Good luck.

Me, I would send her a small down payment to hold the car until you can check it out personally. At the very least get a picture or two to see what you're getting into.

Scam?
A parts car alone would be worth 15-20.
You get what you pay for......

Rule # 1 of car buying 'See car then give money'. I would match the offer + 1000 to nail it and show up with 'purpose.

The 951 didn't come out until '86. The 931 (924 turbo) stopped production in '82.

I dont think she has a clue what the car is because it was her husbands. Its through a mutual friend who I trust but I think Im going to ask for pics or a VIN before I drive that far.

I dont know anything about the "930" and I did ask if they were sure of the model and the turbo part. Thanks for the info.

If it is a 930, and if it does run, snap it up for the asking price before she figures out what it's truely worth. Even if it means puting $10K into it or more, still you would be money ahead in the long run. That's if you have the inclination, time, and funds to do whatever is needed to it.
