Lightbulb Porsche 930 Turbo (911) Audio Upgrade Build LOG

Hey Rennlist,

Been a crazy few days over here in Marina Del Rey just kick *** and taking names on some car audio builds. I have been getting more calls for 911 audio work these days than the Cops.

Here is a sweet old school Porsche Turbo 930 that we install a full custom audio system.

We went with the Pioneer DEH-80PRS deck to get a stron source unit that does iPod, Bluetooth, and 24 bit DAC and has a pro mode so we can run High MID LOW instead of Front Rear and SUB.

We chose Focal Polyglass P165V30 30th Anniversary edition Front Components, PC130 for the rears

We powered the system with a JL Audio XD700.5 and used a Kenwood eXcelon 10" shallow sub!

Hope you enjoy!

Here's some photos of the build

Pretty cool custom work....which is what you do obviously. Outside of losing a little foot room for the passenger, the trade off is great tunes. I don't believe I've ever seen a woofer in any location besides behind the seats.

I do like good a good quality music system and have what's acceptable in my other drivers. But for my 930, I could care less and rarely even turn the radio on (probably because it's crap, but mostly because there's a rich variety of other fine noises to be experienced that puts music in a secondary position. Plus, music just messes with my concentration when concentration matters most). Just my opinion and personal preferences is all....you do good work.

Nice work, but I prefer to keep the car the most original possible.

The sub not for everyone but at some point the audio system breaks down, speakers go bad, radio stops working, etc

Just an option. Keeping the original look were good at too,

Out here in Los Angeles people sit in a lot of traffic so hands free calling is the law and a radio is a must when the 405 turns into a parking lot on Friday Afternoon.

This is a daily Commuter, It not just a weekend car for this particular customer who was passionate about sound.

I'm with Rob on this one. You guys did a clean job, but there's something inherently wrong about a modern radio face on a 930. The aesthetics/ergonomics just don't mix.
My solution was an upgarde to a Becker CD220. Has old school looks, with ***** and everything, even says "Porsche" on it, as it was OEM for other models. I did upgrage the speakers, in original location, and added an amp in the front trunk. A cable to connect iPod from these guys:

That's it.

I'd be interested in that useless, old crappy junk factory Blaupunkt head unit.

(I need something to replace the Pioneer XM radio that the PO installed.)

buying old radio is ok...but its going to break again. the best solution in an Audio Control LC8i to amp and new speakers a just use you iPhone/android direct to the amp and just leave illumination hooked to the oem....but audio guys are going to want good clean sound over old look. the 930 is the essence of a porsche but as tech improves people are going need a BT option and Ipod compatibility
