Any recommendations on sourcing Fuch's for my 1978 930? Prefer them to the current BBS.

FleaBay. 7x16's are plentiful. 9x16's are getting to be like hen's teeth and their prices reflect their scarcity.

You can also buy them directly from your local Porsche dealer now. Porsche Classic has started selling them again in the past year - http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...s/neweditions/

As I recall, a new 9Jx16 Fuchs wheel is around $1620 or so. I think the 7Jx16's were around $1100.

245/45-ZR16 tires are a completely different animal though!

Good luck.

Many guys are moving to 17 and 18" sizes for tire selection. I have been custom building 18" 3 piece wheels for 930 owners. Usually I build 8.25/8.5 and 11's x 18. Here is a set of Speedline Daytona wheels I built for a slope nose in Florida. jdorociak@gmail.com jim

it's amazing how a thread that started as a n/b wheel topic( at least going by the original pics) morphs into a w/b one

any how my 2cents
look at Forgeline wheels for light and strong
for a n/b
8.5ET48 w/ 235/40 to 245/35 tire, shorter being better
10ET51 w/ 27, again shorter being better in 17 275/35 sorter therefore better or in 18 275/35

Here is where the best tyres for these cars come from

Porsche 930 Tyres - Classic Tyres (longstonetyres.co.uk)

Proper N homologeted tyres. asked for by Porsche because these tyres drive better on the P7 that is built for that chassis. well you could also say that chassis was built for the P7.

These were already on my car when I bought it 12 years ago but I believe they are Lindseys. Please excuse the size of the pics and I also haven't polished them in some time.

Maybe you don't need silly big tires but if you're putting 400 or more rwhp to the ground a little silliness helps a lot.

a 245 section tyre is massive. no car really need anything bigger than that. it might diminish straight line wheel spin, but the handling will have a more agressive let go and it will be tricky to get close to the edge of grip without loosing it all of a sudden.

the first countach had 215/70R14 on the back

288GTO 255/50R16 on the rear

245 is massive for a car of your wieght. Mind you we do sell these to Porsche guys quite a lot https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/cat...category/7121/

I guess another interesting point is that there are these if you want them:-

due to the way things work, we have ended with a few old 16" P7 tyres from late 2018. as a result we are going to let them go for £ 100 + VAT. there are only a few so dopnt dawdle.

205/55R16 P7 - date code 4018
245/45R16 P7 - date code 4218

Just ring us up or email.
