If this were a'79 it would be Color code 443 - Copper Brown Metallic

Since it appears to be an '87 .... maybe Color code 40D Espresso Brown Metallic ?

Yes, it's an '87. Color is Cassis Red Metallic. Sort of changes it's appearance with the angle of sunlight.

Cool '87

Baron, different shot at the track, looks a bit less brown. Sort of a rasberry...

I wish I could have more than one 930! There are some beautiful cars out there!

Maybe just attending more PCA events would satisfy my lust.

Hey Ghosteh;

I used to feel the same way, then I discovered that giving 100% to one 25yr old car was just as rewarding as giving 33% to three! and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Bonesaw,

I love Cassis Red and this past spring, missed a chance to by an '87 Cassis Red with burgundy interior from the original owner in PA.

In the sunlight, Cassis looks much lighter with more pink for lack of a better description ...... awesome !

I did not recognize it in your first photo. Because of the light, it looked much darker and closer to Copper Brown Metallic below;

Baron, that Copper Brown Metallic is sweet too. You're spot on with the Cassis Red looking "pinkish" in brighter light.....I get a little teasing about it from some folks (probably envious, haha). Too bad you couldn't grab the one in PA you mentioned. I'll attach another photo, it's off-season anyway.....but it shows you how right you are with different light. This shot was entered by the photographer to PCA NE region photo contest and he took first place! It was a nice fall day to take a spin anyway.

Smile INFORMATION ABOUT ACTIVE 1979 930 TURBOS

We have an ongoing project developing a registry for the 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo.

We are focusing on the 1979 Model Year because of its historical significance and international interest expressed by collectors.

We have located and documented 146 of the 1200 VIN# so far. We have a folder of approximately 20 more that we are working on getting enough documentation to post.

It is interesting to note how much interest the 1979 model year is receiving from the Motherland. I should point out that for 2012 we saw the marketplace for the 1979 adjust upward with several very fine original cars exceeding $60,000 US at sale. Today even the ones needing TLC or a full rehab are bringing $30,000 US or more. This is a positive indicator for the investment value and future collectible value of the 1979 930 model.

Here is the link to the Facebook site with the information...

I have seen notes on the forum here that the Owner of 9309801200 as well as some others are a members here on Rennlist.

It is our hope and request that you and anyone else owning a 79 930 Turbo will visit the Facebook registry, like us, and upload your photos and information so we can list yours in the numerical Photo registry. They are sorted by VIN# in one of the albums in the registry. To the degree we are able, a history or story line is provided for every car we have identified.

Please let us know if we can be of any assistance and we look forward to supporting you.

Your '79 930 Registry is excellent! I just posted four links from your facebook page in the ‘79 930 turbo signature edition thread here on Rennlist. Sorry but I don’t have a facebook account to post photos of my car to your registry.

Gee, I feel like I'm being left out of an exclusive club with my dime-a-dozen '87 The only consolation is that in 8 years my car will be old too and in hot demand.

That's a cool registry, by the way!
