Matter Roll Bar
Hello,
Christmas came a bit early for me in the form of an original Matter Roll bar.
Now before I start hacking and cutting away, is it really worth it?
How will it affect my handling, resale value and daily driveability?
I occassionally track but mostly highway cruise.
Thanks,
Rob

Define "multi-part" as I'm completely unfamiliar with what's in a CTR/BTR. Does it have the rear legs that tie into the body around the firewall? Does it have door beams? Does it have any roof hoops or front "legs" to tie it into the front? The more cage-like you get the stiffer the chassis will be, which is a good thing, but it's also a weight issue. Steel isn't light. It'll be safer though.

I have never heard of an aluminum rollbar. Are these more for show than go?

Matter used to make them of aluminum to save weight, but for competition purposes, most/all sanctioning bodies have gone to steel, (as has Matter) unless it's grandfathered in certain classes IIRC.

all of the original factory 934's and 935's had aluminum roll cages, less weight, same torsional stiffness, sucks for crashing... that was back when racing was really racing, men had *****, and drivers were voluntarily disposable if it meant the possibility of a 10th of a second faster lap time.
