For the asking price, you would think the guy would offer a bit more detail... It is missing the sticker for the 5 speed gearbox on the trunk lid, so it is probably the G50 transmission (not sure if that is good or bad). I will have to run the VIN, but it could have started life as a regular Carrera (could be good or bad depending on the extent of the Ruf modifications). The Motronic BTR engine sticker says BTR III, not BTR 3.3/3.4 like this one does, and like my CIS car does...
Lots of unknowns.....and the guy seems kind of confrontational...

The camera work indicates,to me, serious drinking before hand. I like the car though, the extent of the mods would be interesting. From a comparison standpoint Ruf in Germany has one with almost the exact same story but in red. The price does not seem wrong to me. I would love to own that car.

shame about the photos...
In a shot of the engine bay, I can see the aux. air regulator, a CIS component. I suppose some efi conversions might leave this device in place, but most I have seen its removed.

Well, I talked to the guy... From what I can determine the car is a US 930 Turbo taken to Exclusive Motor cars when new for the RUF BTR engine upgrade. RUF exhaust, adjustable boost, RUF gauges, wheel, front spoiler, oil cooler, wheels. So stock suspension and brakes. Stock G50 transmission which he told me, from a conversation with the previous owners son, was left in because the RUF 5sp had higher ratios. About a $25k bill in period which sounds about right.
The car came in on trade at a Porsche dealer, and they wholesaled to this guy, who has a wheel and tire business in Long Island, and also plays around with Porsches. No original documentation, but it sounds legit. Mileage is an unknown. No recent service. He isn't volunteering any info on what the car may need...
930's from 1986 had Motronic from what I understand, and all the 930's had it when they were re-launched into the US market in 1986. The sticker on the engine doesn't say BTR III, which I understood to be a Motronic car, but maybe that was a RUF system which replaced the CIS. This car probably runs the stock fuel injection, but that is a guess.
I wonder how many of these converted cars are out there? 200 with BTR engines is a number that I heard...
