Come to Miami and we'll run your 930 against mine and then SFB's. After that both SFB and I will run you in the TT's. I think we'll have fun time if not multiple speeding tickets...

Comparing to a stock 930 is silly, and that wasn't the OP's question. There is a big - no, HUGE - difference between a bone stock 930 and a bolt-on modified 930.

Doesn't this apply to any of these cars?

It is much cheaper and simpler to modify any of the new generation cars to the 930 due to the CIS limitations, engine efficiency and electronics. Consider the performance of the BTR with all its mods, yet the stock 993TT still beats it...Move to an ECU flash on the 993TT and you get the performance of the 993TTS, check out the gap on the chart. No matter what, a newer generation engine with simply an ECU flash will bring much higher HP/$, that's the sad truth for us aircooled fans. :-(

I drive Porsche Turbo's daily. I drive everything from 911-993-996-997 turbo's. Trust me the 997 turbo is a beast and is the fastest.

Sometimes it seems people willfully ignore the details of the OP's question - and reason for starting a thread - in order to get their opinion in on some unrelated matter. In this case, apparently people feel the need to state the obvious, which is that the newer cars are faster and easier to modify. That has nothing to do with the OP's question, but I guess it makes you feel better to chime in.

OP, There is a big difference between the slighlty modded CIS 930 and the newer stock models, when you step on the gas pedal from 30mph and go through the gears

Pcar964, I hope the above was simplistic enough for you to understand.

Slownrusty, thanks

Newer is almost always better, faster, more expensive... But does it really matter? Newer cars (post 993) are soul-less compared to the cars designed in the original Porsche mould. I wouldn't mind owning a late model water pumper, but only if I could keep my air cooled cars. It doesn't really matter to me how fast they are as long as I enjoy them...

Onboost,
Not all non-Harleys go ziiiing, as you put it....Mark & I have already come to an understanding on this matter....
I once started a thread about concealed carry pistol permits & 930 owners, as well as a thread about how many 930 owners are named Mark. Both of these went WAY south, WAY TOO fast... there is no way I'm starting anything about Harleys...In my best Bush Sr. impression........"Not going to do it, wouldn't be prudent"
Mark

To bring the thread back on topic, I have driven a 996t. It was definitely faster than my lightly modded 930. My 930 was a bit scary to me when I first acquired it...not so much after I got to know it. The 996t was frighteningly fast...soil your underwear fast...stupid fast. And it was all too easy, with little drama.

I am rebuilding my 930 now...modifications are going from mild towards wild so maybe it will scare me again. For the $$, I could have a nice 996t. For a bit more (which I know I will eventually spend on my 930), maybe even a 997t. But I don't want one of those. Why...too easy with little drama.
