Looking at a 930 pompano beach FL
Hi,
My names Karl, and my wife and I are considering picking up a Porsche as a fun car. We've got "the Used 911 Story", which I have found an invaluable book since I have 0 hands on experience with these cars.
We've test driven a 2001 911 I found local to me, but after the test drive it sprayed antifreeze all over the dealers lot.
Anyway I've always liked the 930's, the wife might like a more modern one but at this point it doesn't matter.
I've seen this car on ebay for a while http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT now its a no reserve auction I was considering bidding on it. The trouble is I'm in the northwest burbs of Chicago and its in florida.
I was was wondering if anyone was local and would take a look at it, or if there was a local shop I could arrange a PPI though.
Thanks,
-Karl

KMW Motorsports is in Boca, not far from Pompano.
Give Kevin a call / Tell him Darin next door told you to call
Shop number 561-392-3020
i could also go look at the car for you if you want. I'm no expert though

Darin,
thanks I will give them a call. I'm going to try and call the seller today as well...
I'd certainly be grateful if you went and took a look at it as well. I'd hate to end up with a bad case of impulse bidding and have a car with potential problems.
thanks,
-Karl

cool.. Kevin is a great guy and honest. And he has been messing with these air cooled P-cars for a long time. He is doing a trans fluid change on my 930 tomorrow.

FYI, I was considering buying that car a few weeks ago. They tomld me their bottom line was $34K because they had $36K into it and couldn't lose more than $2K. I decided not to pursue as they stop replying to me when I tried to schedule a PPI and get more detailed records. The car may in fact be very nice, I never made it far enough to find out otherwise.

thanks for the reply. From what I dug up 34k is what they paid for it at barret-jackson. I'm not down for that much on that particular car. It has been on ebay for some time. I also don't like the whole private auction deal...
If it passes the PPI great.. I'll bid if I get out bid or it goes more than my personal ceiling then I'm out a few bucks on the PPI. No biggie.
I also ran a carfax on it and can post that if anyone is interested.

Well, the car just arrived. At first glance it's a VERY clean car. Owner claims a K30 turbo and I saw the Koklein intercooler. Engine looks clean. Car looks sweet
