Default Zipper in rear of headliner on 930

I just got my new (to me) 930 delivered today and noticed that there is a zipper in the headliner that runs across the width of the car about 2" in front of the top of the rear window. What is this zipper for? (I can hardly wait to hear these answers. )

For us that know it's quite simple.

If for some reason you can't close the sunroof with the electric motor it's for opening the headliner to access the sunroof mechanism and move manually with a crank handle which should have come with the car.

Check your glove box to see if the handle is in there.

That's so you hide her panties so the wife doesn't find them...

Hahaha... hey why don't Porsches come with the straps on each side like the old beetles for the women's ankles.

I'm going to check mine tonight. Who knows what the PO's may have hidden in there?

Good luck on finding the manual crank in the glove box. Maybe I'm unlucky but I have only seen one of those things in four years.

It will also give repair accesc if your sunroof cable breaks, but I like the panty explanation better.

Now that you mention it, I've never seen mine in 9 years.

No strange panties either...

Be very careful in unzipping that zipper as if the headliner is old as it will be fragile, the tongs of the zipper can be contaminated over time which will easily result in tearing of the headliner. Always apply pressure with one hand at the closed end of the zipper while slowly sliding the zipper open.

The same applies for closing. Apply pressure the zipper sides to relax the tension on the headliner fabric as you slowly close the zipper..

..by the mid eightee's that wasn't considered politically correct anymore so they installed footrests for her instead.

some folks remain convinced they are rear view mirrors... whatever
