Both fenders are missing side markers? What is the condition? Is it 47k true miles? Documented? Does it have the red fog light, driver side rear? What is the VIN?

Lots of things to look at before estimating a value.

condition is good but doesnt have the side markers which is trademark to euro 930s. it has been documented miles and does have the rear driver red fog light as well as the cat eye bumpers trademark again to the euro spec. what do you think? you think accidents had the owner change both fenders hence no side marker signal lights?

pls help with your expert advise...suggestions.

many thanks,
Jim

Jim, I'm about as far from an expert. But common sense tells me that if the accident was bad enough to damage BOTH fenders, it'd probably be on the carfax(?). Did you check? Also, does it have the power antena on the front right passenger fender?

How does the paint look close up between the doors and fender? If they were repainted, possible they were done seperate from the doors.

From my limited experience, my '82 Euro indeed has side markers and this one probably should as well. Do you have the DOT import information? Maybe there is something about it there.

my 79' euro didn't have side markers. I think they were for later years only. I would say it is worth 22k if it has all service records

Personally I think $22k is quite a low ball number if it's truly all original 47k miles (no accidents regarding side markers). Very simply, per Market Update which while not the bible, is much closer than KBB or Edmunds or any opinions you will get here, a 1979 930 looks like...

For 2007...
1979 930 LOW 24087
1979 930 GOOD 27387
1979 930 EXCELLENT 36563

So if it's truly "excellent", his starting price isn't out of this world by any stretch. He'll either get it or he won't.

if everything checked out on it in a ppi I would value it at 35-45k depending on condition. Nice 930's that aren't hacked up or S/N conversions are getting rare these days. Between that and newbies still crashing them. a nice carrera or sc is worth 22k. and a ragged out 930 that needs some tlc is worth 22k.
maybe some day people will understand that these cars are getting rare. personally if someone offered me 22k for my car and I was asking 35k i would take it as an insult.

btw, carfax only works if the car has a VIN. 79's still had factory serial numbers. no VIN to trace on carfax

Plus I don't think carfax goes beyond 1981 which I just remembered.

Miles?

Anyway, you could offer $28 or $29k but be prepared to be rejected. It's not a bad offer (much better than $22k), but there could be many things at play -- namely the person is in no rush to sell and just doesn't need to take anything less than his asking price. Or he might have Excellence market update (or equivalent) open when you call and he might consider his 47k mile example "Excellent."

GOOD LUCK!!
