Me, My Zork, And Some Vids...

For those of you asking about the turbo sound, perhaps I am describing what I am hearing incorrectly, you will have to forgive me, this is my first Turbo car...
What I am hearing is the turbo spinning even while I am not on boost...at idle, if you listen very closely (especially in the second vid), you can hear the turbo whistling. While driving down the road under a load, and NOT on boost, I can hear the turbo whistling pretty clearly/loudly....of course when I get on boost, it gets much louder. The sound reminds me of the sound you hear when you drive a big truck.
It's my understanding that the Zork actually helps the turbo spool faster & it also magnifies the sound of the turbo. Before the headers and the Zork, I was running stock headers and a B&B muffler. I could only hear the turbo when I was under hard boost. Now, I hear the turbo ALL the time.

The turbo never stops spinning completely. The reason is that you have a recirculating valve that sends air thru the turbo when you are not on the gas, so as to keep it spinning. You will hear the whizzing sound of the turbo at all times, as you have discovered, but it doesn't always mean that your car is actually on boost.
It is, however, a really cool sound to hear and certainly adds to the overall sensation of the zork experience.
One trick I have learned is to push in the clutch when you pass a cop. The burbling and popping will go away. Or else keep a very steady foot on the gas so that the throttle doesn't back off at all as you pass a cop, and it won't pop.

You are completely correct. My zork, and all zorks, allow you to hear the turbo at all times, on boost or off boost.

I love to hear the turbo spin for a few seconds after I shut her down.
Nice vids Cajun- very cool car. It sounds a whole lot different than my 3.4 with GHL's and single tip.

I'm going to get some out-of-car footage once I get my turbo back in, but here is one of some in-car footage:

I don't have a zork, but have no muffler, no cat, and open wastegate pipe, and 100% agree that the sounds these cars make is AWESOME, and gives a whole new dimension to the experience
