Where to buy updated bumper kit for 80s 930?
Hello all- I am looking at buying another 930 to keep mine stock and play with the new one. Its an 88 in the low 30 to high 20s (price to be agreed on) and would like to update the bumpers to the 90s turbo - C2/4 look. What are the draw backs and can these take any kind of bump? There has to be some weight savings. The car I am looking at has boxed rockers which I like on the slant but not on the stock headlight config. Might change these also.
Any suggestions? If you have a car that you have done could you post and send a pic to me? ( IT police remove pics from my viewing) Who sells this stuff- I know better bodies but anyone else? Anyone have used stuff for me if I get this car?

Good luck with an OEM bumper. I watched for one for almost a year and the cheapest I ever saw one for sale was around $700. Plus they are heavier than the OEM 930 bumper. You would be better off looking for an after market piece. You will have to fabricate your own brackets and inner support but it will be a lot lighter. Lets face it, none of these thing are going to protect the rear of the car very well.

I would do Ruf style bumpers since you're going to play with it anyway.. Couple of other style rockers you could run or run none at all.

Thanks to all- I think I am going with FG parts- I cannot believe the OEM bumper weighs more than our 930 bumper. Wow- I have no problems fabing stuff but the bolt on and go too easy. Found both the front and rear for under $700- $550 each. I thought they would have been more.
Now where to find the lights?- The plot thickens- Mike

I will be replacing my front and rear bumpers and going to a carrera fiberglass tail in the next couple weeks if all goes according to plan, anyway.
So if you want to see the RUF rear bumper from Getty (got it cheaper at Rennspeed) you can look for me to post the results.
If you want to go all out and save the most weight, you actually cut the metal bumper mounts off the frame of the car at each corner instead of just removing the bumper shocks. If you prefer to maintain the use of your bumper shocks, you simply run a aluminum bar between the bumper shocks to tie them together and mount the bar to your bumper with a homemade bracket. In a crash, your bumper will automatically shatter, but the aluminum bar will push against your bumper shocks and protect you up to the 5 miles per hour or so...
I am going all out for weight loss, personally. I plan to save about 40 from the rear and 30 from the front. And 16 from the carrera RS America style fiberglass tail. If I save 90-100 lbs. total, I will be very pleased.
