turbo or no turbo
I have been looking for my first 911 (1984 to 1989)plan to use it for a Sunday driver and also would like to try some driver ed events at Lime rock since I live in CT. Some people have said the turbo cars are not as fun to drive any advice or comments thank you

When I am at the track people always come up to me and say, "Was that you blowing by me?" Yes they are more of a challenge on the track, but if you can handle the boost, you will never go back

If you take a 79-89 911 Turbo and a 90-94 C2 which are roughly equal in terms of market pricing, it would be hard for a 911 turbo to be as enjoyable to drive at the track than the C2 and the C2 will lap faster, especially at LRP. I've owned both and unless the 911 Turbo is highly modified in most areas, it isn't as good a track car. Yes, they are fast in a straight line, yes they are challenging to drive, but the improvements of the later 964 and 993 chassis make the later cars better and more enjoyable to drive. IMHO. My 700hp 89 turbo with short 5spd gears was 3 seconds a lap slower at WGI than a well prepared 964 race car.
