... it sounds like the transmission blew up, none of the gears work, just lots of racket. Funny thing is, I've been driving it really easy.
Once I take a closer look, I'll post more about it....

Something I noticed about this car... the guy that restored it didn't tighten things up very well.
1. Lots of noise coming from the rear. Loose top shock nut.
2. Spark plugs were all barely snugged in place. One was only finger tight.
3. Steering wheel play ( up and down ) loosened up a lot last night. I still haven't looked into that yet.
...now this CV joint fell apart. I am going to have to go over every nut and bolt on this car .... I'm almost afraid to drive it anymore.

The car looks great. Don't give up. Keep working on those little problems and you'll have a better car shortly.
Did the bolts come loose or the CV joint fall apart? Either way it's an easy fox.
Any questions, let us know.

I don't know yet.... I think the whole thing fell apart since I can move it about 2" any direction. I'll have to check all the other joints as well now.
Thanks, I'll probably have a few questions.
I have to crawl under there tonight and see if I can figure out how to get the boots off. I am glad this happened at 15 mph rather than 115 mph.

Consider yourself lucky nothing was destroyed under there, when it broke/came loose! I've heard it can get gnarly when an axle lets go under speed!!!
Some good info here, on the proper hardware to use to keep them tight! With the Schnorr serrated/bevelled washers, new bolts, and the half moon plates, mine haven't budged, and I check them whenever I'm under for any reason!
If your engine/tranny was out for some service (previous owner), it's possible that the bolts have worked themselves loose...

60ft lbs for those bolts you display. FWIW - I don't use any locking washers on mine, SandMan swears by his, but I've never had an issue with them loosening and I track my car 100% of the time.
Just get the good stuff on grease - Mobil1 Synthetic - 1 or 2 tubes.
